Attendance Policy
Choir members are expected to attend all rehearsals and performances when they are feeling well.  Attendance is important for choir members to learn all choral and movement skills. Choir members should not attend rehearsals if they are ill or are not feeling well.  If a choir member is sick, please complete the absence form on the Band App for each week missed.  A doctor's note is not necessary to report an absence.  After three absences, a choir member may be required to sing and perform all music for a director in order to participate in upcoming performances.  After four absences, a choir member will be dismissed from the choir. This policy starts over in January and in September of the following year.  


Choir Members should strive their best to be on time for all rehearsals and performances.   We understand that the Houston Traffic can be unpredictable.  After three absences, a choir member may be required to sing their music to the directors to ensure that they know all of the semester's music pieces.  If a choir member does not know the music after three or more absences, the choir member may not be allowed to participate in the next performance.  

 A student picked up late (7:30 p.m. or later) will incur a $25.00 late fee for every 15 minutes after 7:30. At 7:45, the fee will be $50.00, and so on. For emergencies, please text or call Mrs. Riddle at 281-543-8924.  Late pickups require our staff to remain onsite beyond their scheduled hours. 
Excused Absences
Absences will not be counted if a student has a performance (not a rehearsal) at his/her school.  Parents, please complete the absence form each time a student is absent. The absence form may be found on the Band App.  Absences will also be excused for dangerous weather conditions.  Mrs. Riddle will text all parents if rehearsal is cancelled due to hazardous weather conditions. 
Student Behavior
All school conduct rules apply at NHCC rehearsals.  Talking without permission, annoying other students, chewing gum, not following the dress code, not following directions from any and all directors, not watching the director, and not fully participating in all activities are considered undesirable behaviors and will result in a conduct note being sent home with the student.  Three (3) conduct notes will be grounds for dismissal from the choir.  Refunds will not be given if a choir member is dismissed due to undesirable behavior.

Bullying of any kind will not be tolerated.  All NHCC students should respect each other and all adults.  If a student disrespects another student or an adult in any manner, the student will be dismissed from NHCC immediately.  This includes name-calling, improper facial or body gestures, eye-rolling, hitting, or any other action that is disrespectful towards a student or adult. Refunds will not be given if a choir member is dismissed from the choir due to undesirable behavior.  

The student's school dress code applies at all NHCC rehearsals.  Students not in the proper dress code will not be able to rehearse with the NHCC.  Short-shorts, tank tops, sundresses, flip-flops, hats, caps, hoods, headpieces, sunglasses, or any item of clothing that is not appropriate for school is not appropriate for NHCC.  After the first dress code warning, a note will be sent home with the student.  After the second dress code warning, the student will be dismissed from NHCC.
Student Homework Policy
All students should listen at least once a day to recordings of the NHCC music on the website until they have learned and memorized all the music for the semester.  Students will not be allowed to participate in public performances with the NHCC until all music is learned and memorized.  
Emergency Medical Permission
In case of a medical emergency, I give my permission for my child to have emergency medical treatment if such treatment is deemed life-saving or if all efforts to reach me or my designated emergency contact person fail.  I hereby release the North Houston Children's Choir, its agents and representatives, from any legal or financial liability arising from a medical emergency or any event occurring during my child's participation in the North Houston Children's Choir.
Transportation Permission
In the event that the NHCC needs to travel to and from performances by school bus or charter bus, I give my permission for my child to travel with the NHCC to the event.  I understand that most performances will require parents to provide transportation to and from the events.  
Photo and Video Release Permission
I give permission for my child to be photographed and/or video recorded while he/she is participating in a rehearsal or performance of the North Houston Children's Choir.  Photographs or video recordings will only be used for promoting activities of the North Houston Children's Choir.  
Thank you for completing the student contract for the North Houston Children's Choir.
